Durability & Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel Kickplates are a great way to provide durable protection for your doors from the use and wear that is typical in commercial, hospital, retail and warehouse locations. Our stainless steel kick plates are manufactured from 304 alloy stainless steel, which is highly resistant to rust, corrosion and the elements and offers a very clean visual style.

Stainless Steel, Brass/Bronze and Aluminum Diamond-Tread Plate Options

We offer kick plates manufactured from brass, bronze, aluminum and diamond tread plate, although stainless steel is the most common. Our standard kick plates are manufactured from 18 Gauge Stainless Steel, which is approximately .05″ thick. We offer them custom manufactured in thicker gauges such as 16 Gauge (1/16″ or ~.063″ thick) or thinner thicknesses such as 20 Gauge (.036″ thick).

Standard Sizes for Kick Plates

Our kickplates are available in a variety of heights and lengths which cater to your specific needs. The most common heights are 6 inches and 8 inches. 6″ kick plates are sometimes called mop plates and 8″ plates are known as kickplates. We also stock stretcher plates designed for hospitals and armor plates for those interested in either more door protection or the visual effect of having more metal. For widths, the most common sizes are 28″ (for 30″ doors), 30″ (for 32″ doors), 34″ (for 36″ doors), and 36″ (for 38″ doors).

Stainless Steel, Brass/Bronze and Aluminum Diamond-Tread Plate Options

Our stock items which are available for faster shipment are manufactured in 18 Gauge Stainless Steel. 18 Gauge Stainless Steel is approximately .05″ thick. We offer them custom manufactured in thicker gauges such as 16 Gauge (1/16″ or ~.063″ thick) or thinner thicknesses such as 20 Gauge (.036″ thick). We also offer a variety of other materials such as brass, bronze, aluminum diamond-tread plate and stainless steel diamond tread plate.

Satin/Brushed Finishes and Other Finishes Available for Kick Plates

Our standard finish on kick plates is a #4 brushed (satin) finish stainless steel plate. We offer custom finishes such as mirror polished or mechanically grained finishes for the stainless steel, brass and aluminum and architectural or statuary bronze finishes for our brass and bronze plates.

Installation & Mounting

Kickplates should be specified 2″ shorter than the width of the door so as not to interfere with the door jamb when closing. Our stock kick plates are designed to be applied with an adhesive, but we would be happy to drill them with holes to permit mounting with a mechanical fastener.
